Anniston Star - celebrity auction to benefit salvation army tornado relief

Anniston Star - celebrity auction to benefit salvation army tornado relief: "The stars have come out to support an online auction that is raising funds for the Salvation Army’s Alabama tornado relief efforts.

The Civil Wars, a folk duo, organized the auction after member John Paul White got a firsthand look at the destruction. His own home in Florence was damaged in the tornado.

“The devastation around here can’t be summed up very easily, not in words, pictures or video,” White said in a news release about the auction. “It’s everywhere we look — the lines at the gas pumps, the lines at the hotels, the desperation for generators, water, non-perishable food. I, just like everyone else around here, have close friends and family that have lost everything.”

Salvation Army Public Relations Director Mark Jones said the organization is grateful that the group is stepping up to help."
